"We feel incredibly grateful that KAHC was our builder. We'd never renovated, so the most important things for us were trust and honesty - and we got that in spades. When we started, builders were going broke and costs were escalating, so a cost plus contract was the only way to manage this risk - but this needs a high level of trust and transparency. We got a detailed budget upfront, but we were also able to make alterations as things inevitably changed (and we discovered unanticipated issues with a house built in the 1880s!). Kirk and his trusty side-kick Tony worked with us every step of the way and provided invaluable advice about what was worth doing and what wasn't, which saved us a lot of money. We were in constant contact and all variations were priced and agreed and every single receipt was provided and cent accounted for - and in the end we were very pleasantly surprised when the job came in under our final expectations. Not an experience many people have!
Best of all, the work is of the highest quality and undertaken by builders who clearly take pride in everything they do. We wake up every morning and feel joy living in our new home. 'KA Hawkins Constructions completed a major home extension and renovation for us in Mitchelton in 2021. It was an incredibly busy and stressful time in our lives with 2 children under 4 and a newborn arriving halfway through the project. Having made the decision to live in the property during the works we spent our days living alongside Kirk and Tony for a solid 9 months with a Christmas deadline.
Kirk is trustworthy, reliable and an excellent communicator. With two young boys himself, he is keenly aware of function as well as form and focused our conversations daily with his pragmatic approach. Kirk’s craftsmanship is of the highest quality. We are grateful he was also willing to take on challenges for example forming a suspended curved concrete bench seat in the living room. This was a key design feature of the living space in June Street and is now the center piece of the home.
Kirk worked closely with architect Dennis Hill to realise our vision. During site visits Dennis commented that he had never seen building works reflect his architectural drawings so closely in his career – an incredible result for all involved.

'KA Hawkins Constructions recently completed a full bathroom renovation in our apartment building at Hamilton. The bathroom included removing the existing walk in wardrobe, cutting of new windows into the external blockwalls, a new ceiling, brand new lighting, tiling and plumbing fixtures inclusive of shower screens. KA Hawkins handled all the initial planning, site management and all trades. The project was rather difficult for access being up three flights of stairs however this was not an issue for Kirk and his team. The project was completed with the very best quality and in the designated time frames as discussed at the start of the project.
